JSM BIOMEDICAL IMAGING DATA PAPERS
Aims & Scope
There are thousands of papers published annually in the biomedical imaging field that develop new algorithms for image processing, reconstruction, and analysis. However, few of them provide a fair and direct comparison between a proposed algorithm and competing methods. A main reason is that raw datasets in the state-of-the-art papers are not publicly available. This represents a vast waste of academic resources and a well-recognized obstacle to reproducible research. The aim of JSM BIOMEDICAL IMAGING DATA PAPERS is to publish raw datasets and associated algorithms as peer-reviewed open access papers for the biomedical imaging community. Each paper consists of two parts. The first part can be a regular paper including a description of data, a working method, results, and discussions, etc. The second part is a raw data package as an online supplement. When the raw data in a data paper are used to evaluate another algorithm or technique, the data papers are naturally cited to utilize and credit the original work.
JSM BIOMEDICAL IMAGING DATA PAPERS is an international, peer reviewed open access journal. The topics include but are not limited to datasets for image processing, reconstruction and analysis in the following areas:
