    Introduction: One of the most frequent complications of percutaneous bone conduction hearing implant (BCHI) surgery is dermatitis around the titanium skin-penetrating abutment.
    Objective: To describe the laser epilation of hair around a BCHI abutment using the long-pulsed, 800-nm Light SheerTM diode laser (Lumenis, Inc.) as a treatment for recurrent soft tissue reactions secondary to the in growth of hairs around the implant site. Results: Laser therapy resulted in prevention of recurrent infections as a sequel of an effective hair follicle reduction in our case. The patient was very satisfied with the outcome and no side effects could be observed.
    Recommendation: Diode laser therapy appears to be a successful therapeutic option for patients suffering from recurrent infections around their BCHI abutment due to the in growth of hair. This treatment can be proposed as a new alternative for current standard therapies.

    Orbital extension of acute rhinosinusitis represents a medical and surgical emergency. Radiological investigation with computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is essential to distinguish different diagnosis and to evaluate the extent of disease. Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is indicated any time acute sinusitis with complications is observed to reduce compression of adjacent structures, to restore sinus drainage, for bacteriological or mycotic examinations, and to provide a final histopathological examination. The clinical presentation of orbital complications of two rare cases of acute rhinosinusitis and one case of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is described in this paper and the therapeutic approaches are discussed.

    Objectives: Indocyanine green angiography is a useful intraoperative tool to assess flap survivability that has been successfully applied in many areas of reconstructive surgery. Herein, we describe the first application of indocyanine green angiography in assessing the viability of a supraclavicular artery island flap (SCAIF) with the goal of demonstrating its usefulness in preventing major post-operative complications.
    Methods: We present a case report of a patient who had previously undergone multiple neck surgeries and neck irradiation that subsequently developed a laryngo cutaneous fistula amenable to closure with a SCAIF. The SPY-Elite Intraoperative Perfusion Assessment System (SPY) was used to assess intra-operative flap viability.
    Results: The distal flap end was shortened at two separate occasions during the case when a SPY perfusion assessment demonstrated poor distal flow. Post-operatively, the flap healed with 100% take, and the patient did not experience any complications from the surgery.
    Conclusion: Our application of the SPY to assess the viability of a SCAIF intra-operatively prevented a major post-operative complication. Overall, indocyanine green angiography is a useful tool in head and neck reconstruction, and we believe that its use should be applied liberally to the SCAIF to prevent distal flap necrosis.

    Hyoid bone fracture is usually due to strangulation, and, rarely, other forms of trauma. Its sequaelae are often immediate and distressing, and may be fatal. A prominent diagnostic sign is a palpable click. Concealed fractures can present confusing symptoms.
    Two cases of previously undiagnosed hyoid bone fracture are presented, one affecting the greater cornu, the other, a fragmented fracture of the body of the hyoid. Considerable odynophagia was the main presentation in both cases, for two years in the first, and seven months in the second. In the first case, the probable cause was forcible deglutition against pressure. Spastic tongue and respiratory distress were encountered in both cases. The second patient finally presented with stridor after seven months.
    Conclusion: Fracture of the hyoid bone can be missed during examination and may lead to spastic tongue and respiratory distress.

    Objective: To evaluate the surgical outcomes and describe the technique for septal perforations repair. Methods: Retrospective clinical study of septal perforations from a tertiary care hospital during a period of 08 years. An endonasal approach with bilateral pediculate septo-nasal flaps were used to solve this situation. The statistical data analysis was made with the IBM ® SPSS software, using chi-square and Fisher exact tests. Results: Thirteen cases underwent to this surgical approach with more than 85% of complete resolution of the problem. There are no complications related to the procedure. There were significant improvements comparing pre and post operatory outcomes. Conclusion: This study demonstrated a good surgical option for treating large septal perforations. A larger study with more patients and comparing others techniques would be interesting to have more scientific evidence to this technique.

    Paradoxical vocal cord dysfunction (PVCD) has been recognized with increasing frequency in the athletic population. The impact of such disorder on athletics, athletics coaches and teammates is significant. The ultimate goal of this pilot study was evaluate the demographic and video laryngoscopic features of five Qatari athletes, three of them diagnosed with PVCD, as a first step toward designing and validating a symptom questionnaire with a high predictive value for PVCD. The results of the laryngoscopic evaluation revealed that 3 out of the 5 participants evaluated in this study were found to have PVCD as the sole cause, or as a contributing factor, to their breathing difficulties during performing their daily sport activities. The clinical history results as obtained by the trail version of PVCD questionnaire showed the following symptomatic presentations of PVCD: stridor on inhalation, throat clearing to open, sensation of closure in airway, laryngeal or upper chest tightness, and a recovery period between 5 to 10 minutes. The laryngoscopic evaluation showed narrow vocal cord opening visualized when symptomatic on inspiration and or expiration. Results of this pilot study showed cutoff score of over than 30. Sensitivity was 90%.Specificity for this criterion was 100%. Results indicated the need to validate the current symptom questionnaire to assess its predictive value in identifying athletes with PVCD. A further step would be obtaining concurrent validity of the questionnaire by validating it with an objective procedure of choice such as Fiberoptic laryngoscopy in a larger cohort of participants. Future studies may investigate the efficacy of laryngeal relaxation exercises in reducing the symptoms of PVCD.
