Journal of Substance Abuse and Alcoholism is an open access, peer reviewed Journal that focuses on the repercussions of substance use and overuse, including drugs, tobacco and alcohol and their consequences on physical and mental health. The Open Access Journal exploits the chemistry of substances that cause addiction and abuse, their actions at molecular and cellular levels both in vitro and in vivo analysis of their biochemical, chemical and behavioral actions, clinical research in humans and laboratory models that studied substances useful for abuse treatment and the Journal also covers the deterrence research, and studies utilizing methods from psychology, epidemiology and sociology.

Substance abuse can be defined as a pattern of harmful use of any substance for mood-altering purposes. "Substances" can include alcohol and other narcotic drugs and substances that are not drugs at all.

The Open Access Journal welcomes Original research Submissions as research articles, Reviews, Mini Reviews, Short Communications, Perspectives and Editorials.

The journal is peer reviewed and all manuscripts undergo five level thorough reviews processing of content such as plagiarism, copyediting, in-house review, independent review assignments, proofreading and typesetting to ensure scientific content quality meets the international standards.
