Social Support in Confirmed Cases of Covid-19 in Alfenas-MG - Abstract
The expansion of COVID-19 has brought economic, social and health impacts. Physical, emotional, social and environmental aspects have influenced the quality of life (QoL) of the population during the pendemic. Objective: To analyze social support networks among confirmed cases of COVID 19 in the municipality of Alfenas-Minas Gerais. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. Data were collected using the KOBO TOOLBOX application, free and open software. Data collection was carried out from March 15 to October 26, 2020. A sample calculation was performed from a list provided by the Health Department of Alfenas-MG; a stratified and proportional random sampling was considered; thus, the sample calculation was 428 participants. The losses and the final sample were 217 participants. The instrument for data collection was the Social Support Scale (EAS) from the Medical Outcomes Study (MOS) called Social Support Scale (MOS-SSS). Results: In the analysis of the social support indicators, the data showed that in all the studied dimensions, the score was considered high, indicating that in this population there was coverage of social support. Conclusion: Regarding the perception of social support, despite the diversity of responses, it is clear that most people reported to family and friends as a bond of trust to meet their needs. It should be noted that the support network can offer social, material, affective, informative or social interaction help, becoming essential in preventing vulnerabilities due to the pandemic. In this sense, the social support received contributes positively to the quality of life.
