A Rare Case of Rectal Prolapse in a Patient with Crohn’s Disease - Abstract
Background: Rectal prolapse in patients with Crohn’s disease has not been documented. Case Summary: We present a young patient with a history of well controlled Crohn’s disease who presented with rectal prolapse without associated constipation. He underwent uncomplicated robotic assisted rectopexy with immediate resolution. Conclusion: Rectal prolapse is rarely seen in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). No association currently exists in the literature today. Further studies are necessary to assess if a relationship exists in patients with IBD and rectal prolapse
