Biologics for the Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) - Abstract
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), consisting of Crohn’s Disease (CD) or Ulcerative
Colitis (UC), is an immune-mediated lifelong disease. In addition to biologics,
5-aminosalicylates, corticosteroids, antibiotics, immune modulators are used for the
treatment of IBD. Biologics are necessary for refractory IBD to conventional therapy.
In last decades, new biologics have been, and are being developed and explored
rapidly in different target molecules, including Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNFa).
The aim of this mini-review is to summarize the biologics.
