Reducing Sudden Cardiac Arrest Risk during Marathons with Aspirin Guided by Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring - Abstract
Middle-aged male runners with subclinical coronary atherosclerotic heart disease are at transiently increased risk for sudden cardiac arrest during
marathons. Coronary artery calcium scoring reliably identifies those for whom low dose aspirin use is prudent to enhance primary prevention of such race-related
events. This recommendation is evidence-based and supported by guidelines of the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.
