Inherited Platelet Disorders - Abstract
The inherited platelet disorders are heterogenous and rare diseases. These disorders are normally associated with bleeding diasthesis due to either a platelet functional abnormality or haemostatic procoagulant defect. They can be classified into molecular abnormalities that give rise to dysfunctional platelet receptors, alpha or dense granule deficiencies, platelet signaling pathway disorders or altered platelet coagulant function. This review will examine each of the mechanisms associated with inherited platelet disorders.
