Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine that focuses on the endocrine system and the hormone it secretes, its receptors and the intracellular signaling pathways they invoke. Endocrine organs are scattered throughout the body and in addition to the classical endocrine organs, there are many other cells in the body that secrete hormones.
