Saraiva Bresciani KD (2018) A Brief History of Research in Veterinary Parasitology. Ann Clin Cytol Pathol 4(5): 1112.

As Associated Professor of Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária, Araçatuba, São Paulo, Brasil, I mainly work with Parasitic Diseases of Domestic Animals.

In the last years, our team have worked and published manuscripts about Public Health and with this experience; I edited three international open access e- books: “Main Canine Protozoan Zoonosis”, “Major Zoonosis by Helminths and Ectoparasites in Dogs”; “Main Canine Parasitic Zoonosis”. Due the close proximity between men and pets, studying the occurrence of endoparasites in small animals has become increasingly relevant. These diseases are frequently diagnosed in spite of the existent therapeutic and prophylactic measure, including Visceral Canine Leishmaniasis.

I performed Post-Doctoral degree in Parasitology and Scientific Writing at Unesp, Botucatu, SP, Brazil and I have tried to improve my writing style. At moment, in my career, I advisored 12 Master’s dissertations, Ten Doctor’s thesis and several Scientific Initiation works. As Professional Master Coach pela Latin American Society of Coaching and I am Editor with Ph.D. José Antonio Soares of the internacional open acess e-book: “Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility in Veterinary Medicine: Concepts and Applications” by Nova Science Publishers, New York, United States of America.The pet market is gradually expanding, which has encouraged entrepreneurs already established in the field and also entrepreneurs who may wish to invest in this segment. In all sectors, entrepreneurship and social responsibility have become discussed and propagated topics by global medias and has been gaining importance in a company’s business strategy.In our book, we discussed too the importance of a set of integrated actions to be taken in a rural system based on principles of entrepreneurship and social responsibility.

I and Ph.D. Jancarlo Gomes are Editorsof international book: “Cryptosporidiosis in Human and Domestic Animals” by Nova Science Publishers, New York, United States of America. In this book, the authors clarify about epidemiologic aspects and control related to cryptosporidiosis in human and domestic animals. Cryptosporidium spp. infects animals, especially cattle, are a source of infection for the environment and humans, because they eliminate large numbers of oocysts in their feces. In people, the implementation of the control including preventive measures that promotes early diagnosis of this infection. Under the zoonotic aspect, health professionals may be aware of this clinical signs and take preventive measures for their control.

Doctor’s in Preventive Veterinary Medicine, I and Ph.D. Alvimar Costa edited the international book: “Congenital Toxoplasmosis in Human and Domestic Animals” by Bentham Books, United Arab Emirates. This book is of outstanding interest to epidemiologists, doctors, veterinarians and public health specialists. Important aspects for control programs of congenital toxoplasmosis and for maternal and neonatal screening of toxoplasmosis control programs were discussed. Additionally, based on this information, reproductive disorders such as abortion, neonatal mortality and prematurity due to infection by Toxoplasma gondii, maybe more easily diagnosed in their routine daily care.

I as Ph.D. Katia Bresciani from São Paulo State University (UNESP), Ph.D. Jancarlo Gomes from Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM) and Laboratory of Image Data Science (LIDS) of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and Ms. Milenne Dias from the Epidemiological Surveillance Group XI, were are the coordinators of one remarkable meeting of São Paulo State (SP), Brasil. This historical event on Human and Animal Parasitology in the context of One Health was held at Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária, Araçatuba, São Paulo, Brasil, on November 08, 09 and 10, 2017 (Photo 4, Photo 5 and Photo 6). The second meeting on One Health in Parasitology will occur in December 03, 04 and 05, 2018.

Our work have clearly demonstrated the sanitary impacts of parasitic diseases, with impact on livestock, which can result in elevated losses to animal production, as well as on companion animals, where the loss of young animals affects emotionally the families involved. This publication is particularly timely at the moment when zoonoses has been recognized as an important problem in humans and animals, when there is need for One Health, during which human health is directly related to animal health and the environment.

The priority in myprofissional life has been the academic growing of my students. With our team and undergraduate students in Veterinary Medicine, I learn a lot every day, I realize myself as a person and I feelme gratified. For this, in our team the most importante is the trust, respect and friendship, one each other. I can say that we are one Scientific Family. Although the academic career is very difficult, with constant challenges, there is no fixed time for study or work, but it is worth working with research, especially in the context of One Health.
