EDITORIAL
Today is the world of evidence based dentistry. To get best results of the research, proper scientific knowledge is required. Information published in research papers should have scientific evidence. The research work should be original, having proper data sources and clearly defined research goals. If the article has already been published, same article cannot be published in any other journal with few corrections. Another problem faced nowadays is plagiarism. Sometimes as a reviewer, we come across an article which had striking similarity with some other study. The frequency of it has increased significantly in recent years. The reason of this problem is the rise of open-access journals. Vigilant reviewer scrutiny and technology capable of identifying duplicate publications are required to prevent plagiarism. Plagiarism is act of copying someone else’s words without giving him or her credit. Many students are unfamiliar with what constitutes plagiarism. To avoid plagiarism, always cite your sources well. When writing a specific idea that is not your own, always credit the authors in the form of citing. The article should be written in his/her own words taking help of the guide. Avoid writing many articles of same type and submitting to different journals at same time. Always consult with a translator before sending final proof of manuscript. Use anti-plagiarism tools to detect any accidental plagiarism. In order to publish a good scientific paper, person should put down his own thoughts with proper citations and should avoid plagiarism. Educational institutes need to take a holistic approach to address this problem. Ethics education in graduate research programs to encourage them in honest research and publication should be mandatory
